Costa Rica Treehouses
Live a childhood dream with every comfort you have come to expect in adulthood when you stay in a Rancho Pacifico Treehouse. The treehouses offer almost 1,000 square feet (100 square meters) of space and light in the canopy of one of the most beautiful pristine rainforests in Costa Rica. The indoors and outdoors are seamlessly blended with large windows, bathrooms that give you a full feeling of cleansing in nature, and vast decks with sweeping rainforest and ocean views.
Each of our treehouses comes with the highest level of amenities that feature predominantly wood in a palette inspired by the local rainforest including king beds, an outdoor soaking tub, custom art, hanging loveseats, comfortable couches, a desk, air conditioning, automated blinds, and organic bath products locally made in Costa Rica.
All treehouses are nestled in their secluded corner of the rainforest, separated from other rooms by mature trees, but all a short walk from the amenities of the Rancho Pacifico clubhouse. Each is subtly different, architected to take advantage of the nature around them, and inspired by a local animal. Read on to discover each treehouse’s unique character, and choose your own adventure!
Treehouse Tucan
The inspiration for Treehouse Tucan is immediately obvious, with the ground falling away below you as you walk towards your door and then through the treehouse towards your sunset-facing deck. With a little bit of luck, your first wildlife sighting will be of a majestic toucan swooping between the trees below your balcony.
The west-facing orientation of the Treehouse Tucan is unique among the rooms at Rancho Pacifico, and frequently bathes the treehouse in golden light in the late afternoon. Seeing the sun drop into the Pacific Ocean while sitting on your swinging loveseat is an unforgettable experience.
Treehouse Tamandua
The treehouse looks unassuming as you approach it from the trail starting by the Rancho Pacifico restaurant. However, the moment you step inside, the full drama of the setting is revealed. In front of you, an entire mountainside of virgin rainforest fills your field of vision and rises to the sky. To your left, a clear view of the ocean and Uvita Whale’s Tail opens up through the mature rainforest. Treehouse Tamandua truly captures the purest Rancho Pacifico experience.
While the Tamandua (Costa Rica’s primarily tree-dwelling anteater) is an elusive animal, most active at night, treehouse Tamandua gives you very direct access to our network of jungle trails. If you wander the property and keep your eyes open, you may have the privilege of enjoying a sighting of the beautiful animal that this treehouse honors.
Note: Guests with mobility issues should not choose this accommodation as it requires a short but inclined walk on a gravel path and stairs to reach the Treehouse and main restaurant / pool area.
Treehouse Mono Congo
As you walk along the raised walkway and arrive at canopy level to reach treehouse Mono Congo, you will immediately understand how it earned its name. Mono Congo is the local name for the howler monkeys which always mark your experience at Rancho Pacifico. You will hear their calls reverberate from the rainforest that surrounds you (they can be heard from up to three miles away), and at treehouse Mono Congo, you have the best chance of seeing a troop of them in the trees by your windows.
Treehouse Mono Congo benefits from fantastic ventilation with openings on all four sides of the treehouse. The cross-breezes can keep you cool without needing the air conditioning.
Treehouse Puma
Our ‘wildest’ and most secluded treehouse pays homage to one of our rainforest’s most elusive inhabitants. Treehouse Puma offers clear ocean views, with not a building in sight as you gaze down across the pristine rainforest.
Treehouse Puma is strategically nestled in a natural hollow surrounded by steep slopes in the rainforest, meaning that while you are at canopy level on two sides of the treehouse, the other two are at ground level. While you aren’t likely to spot a Puma walking outside your windows, sightings of Pizotes, Kinkajous, and Agoutis are common.
